How much does a crawl space sump pump cost?

A crawl-space sump pump project can be a simple pump-and-pit installation or part of a larger drainage and moisture-control system. The total depends on where water collects, how it reaches the pit, where discharge goes and whether electrical or backup-power work is included.

What can be included in the quote

  • Sump pit: excavation, basin size and location can affect labor.
  • Primary pump: capacity and pump type should match the expected water load.
  • Drainage connection: perimeter drains or channels may feed water to the pit.
  • Discharge line: routing water safely away from the foundation can add material and labor.
  • Electrical work: a dedicated outlet or other electrical changes may be required.
  • Backup system: battery or secondary-pump options can be priced separately.

Why the water source matters

A sump pump manages collected water; it does not automatically correct grading, roof runoff, plumbing leaks or high crawl-space humidity. Ask the contractor to explain where the water is entering and why the proposed drainage path sends it to the pump.

Compare the pump with the surrounding system
