Foundation repair quote comparison calculator
Enter the totals from up to three written contractor proposals. If a quote includes a documented pier count, add it too. The calculator shows the arithmetic side by side, but the scope still matters more than the bottom-line number.
Normalize the written bids
Quote A
Quote B
Quote C
The calculator will show the entered price spread. It will not decide that the higher or lower quote is better.
Before comparing price, confirm these scope items
Why quote totals can be far apart
Two bids can differ because the contractors diagnose different problems, propose different repair areas, use different quantities or include different project-level work. A lower total may reflect a smaller but appropriate scope, or it may exclude work that another bid includes. A higher total may reflect a larger necessary scope, or simply more included items. The number alone does not tell you which explanation is correct.
Use the quote checker for missing details
If a written proposal is vague, open the Foundation Repair Quote Checker. It checks whether the proposal clearly states the repair method, quantities, payment schedule, engineering, permits, cleanup and warranty, then builds questions from the missing items.
Use the estimator for budget context
If you want a broad planning band before comparing bids, use the Foundation Repair Cost Calculator & Estimator. For pier projects, the Pier Project Calculator lets you enter the actual unit-price range from a written proposal.
Arithmetic and educational planning only. RepairCostMatch does not rank contractors, determine whether work is needed or choose a structural repair method. Values entered on this page stay in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Should I pick the lowest quote?
Not from price alone. First confirm that the bids address the same diagnosis and comparable written scope.
Why can cost per pier look misleading?
One proposal may include engineering, excavation, restoration or lifting that another proposal excludes. Unit-price arithmetic is only one part of the comparison.
What if contractors recommend different pier counts?
Ask each contractor to show the affected area, support locations and evidence behind the count. If major structural proposals conflict, an independent professional evaluation may help clarify the diagnosis.
